In the absence of any official service, the survivors have been organising a Commemorative service every year for the past 40+ years.
In addition, the SA Legion and Royal British Legion – South Africa Branch in the UK & Europe, the PE and Hermanus Cadets, and various indivuals have been stalwarts in the recognition of the event.
The Navy has provided support, as has the Navy Museum, and other serving members of the Military.
